Molberg Joins with North Texas Leaders to Promote UNT Law School Campus in Downtown Dallas
(Aug 1, 2008) Last night at the Dallas Bar Association's Belo Mansion , Ken Molberg, a Founders Board Member for the proposed University of North Texas Law School in downtown Dallas , joined with other Founders Board members and community leaders in a show of support for the project. Forum panelists, including Sen. Royce West, Rep. Rafael Anchia and UNT Chancellor Lee Jackson, discussed the benefits of bringing a public law school to the Dallas area, which is currently the largest metropolitan area in the United States without one. "I have been a part of this project from the outset because we need to nurture young minds and provide more affordable options in legal education to people from this area," Molberg said. "For far too long we have been losing talented individuals to other parts of the state and country. A public law school based in downtown Dallas will stem that unfortunate outflow," he added.
Molberg Leads the Way as Dallas Democrats Amass 5-to-1 Fundraising Advantage
(July 18, 2008) Finance reports filed on July 15 indicate that Ken Molberg leads all countywide candidates-Democratic and Republican-in cash on hand going into the final quarter of the election cycle. These reports are public record and available here. In a turn of events that mirrors the shifting political tide in Dallas County , countywide Democratic candidates have dominated Republicans in 2008 fundraising by a nearly 5-to-1 margin. In the January 1 to July 15 filing period, Molberg raised more than $88,000 and reported cash on hand of just over $125,000. His opponent raised less than half and has just over $20,000 on hand. "I am deeply humbled by the support I have received from Democrats, independents, and Republicans--even from former Republican Judges and those I have litigated against," said Molberg. "I am proud of this broad support and I intend to live up to the trust these individuals have placed in me if I am elected to the bench."
Association Names Ken Molberg 2008 ‘Lawyer of the Year'
(May 28, 2008) Dallas lawyer and judicial candidate Ken Molberg was named the "2008 Attorney of the Year" by the Dallas Democratic Lawyers Association at its May meeting.
In presenting the prestigious award, Association president Clay Jenkins noted Molberg's long service to the Dallas community and his longstanding role as counsel to the Democratic Party and many of its candidates. "In 2006," Jenkins said, "Ken single-handedly represented our candidates in eight separate legal proceedings back-to-back and won every one of them." Jenkins also noted that Molberg frequently represents persons of modest or few means "where other lawyers might hesitate to do so."
Many well-known area lawyers were in attendance at the event, including State Sen. Royce West and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk. Kirk quipped that "Ken should have been awarded Lawyer of the Century" for the work he has performed.
Molberg is the Democratic nominee for the 95th Civil District Court of Dallas County in the November 4, 2008, general election.
Sen. Royce West, former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk Publicly
Endorse Ken Molberg for Judge
(December 10, 2007) State Sen. Royce West and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk publicly endorsed Ken Molberg, at a re-election announcement party held for Sen. West at Dallas' African American Museum.
In their remarks to a crowd of several hundred prominent business and political leaders, many from the politically influential southern sector of Dallas, both Sen. West and former Mayor Kirk noted Molberg's longstanding commitment to the legal profession and the Democratic Party. Molberg is a former Dallas County Democratic Party Chair and is currently the State Democratic Executive Committeeman for Sen. West's 23rd Senatorial District.
Citing Molberg's service as Dallas County Democratic Party Chair before Democrats began to win here, former Mayor Kirk noted, "It's fun to be party chair now when you can wake up the morning after an election and say ‘we win, we win,' but Ken was here in the tough times. We should all recognize his commitment to this party and our values. He has earned this. We should all get behind Ken Molberg and elect him in 2008."
Sen. West told attendees, "Ken Molberg is a fine lawyer and critical member of our party who brought us to where we are today. I am proud to endorse Ken Molberg for Judge and I urge you to help elect him."
